Variable-pitch wind generator unit can realize stable output power above the rated power point. There is no basic change when the power is under rated power and the controller setting pitch angle of blade near 0°, so the variable-pitch wind generator unit are equal to the fixed-pitch one. The power of generator will change with variation of wind speed according to aerodynamic performance of blade. When the wind speed is more than rated wind speed and the power is over rated power, the variable-pitch mechanism begins working in accordance with commanded angle of the master control system to adjust pitch angle of blade and limit the output power of generator near rated value.
Variable-pitch drive system is in charge of controlling the blade of wind generator unit to rotate to given position of pitch angle. The system controls power of wind generator unit through controlling for position of pitch angle of three blades. Shutdown can be achieved by safe feathering in case of emergency.

Under the rated wind speed, variable-pitch wind generator unit operates on Cpmax curve to make full use of wind energy; when power of wind generator has reached the limit while the wind speed increases continuously, the pitch system will reduce Cp value and limit aerodynamic moment to make the wind generator keep rated power.
