NARI Held workshop for Training Class of ICSHP


The training class for small hydro power co-sponsored by ICSHP of the United Nations and Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) was held successfully in the capital of Kenya – Nairobi from June 20 to June 24. Nearly 20 representatives from 7 member countries and secretariat of COMESA, including Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Madagascar, Malawi, Seychelles and Zimbabwe participated in training activities. Core member unit of ICSHP– NARI participated in the activities and gave toturials.

In the opening ceremony, Dr. Joseph Njoroge, Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum of Kenya was present and delivered speech, and Dr. Kipyego Cheluget, Assistant Secretary General of COMESA also delivered speech. During the training, the experts of NARI introduced integrated automation technologies and solutions for hydropower and water conservancy engineering, dam safety monitoring technology and automation system, automatic system solutions for water regimen control, integrated automatic solutions for small hydro power, etc. to trainees; joint study was performed for Wanjii Hydropower Station of Kenya Power (KPLC); meeting was held with the principals for East Africa of Global Water Partnership, and the Ministry of Water Conservancy, Irrigation and Energy of Ethiopia, and technical exchange was also performed with the principals in relevant disciplines.

In October 2013, NARI became a core member of ICSHP; in 2016, ICSHP established innovation baseunder the support of NARI Group.
