  • 2014

In 2014, C-EPRI was transferred from Smart Grid Research Institute (SGRI) to NARI Group Corporation (NARI), as part of SGCC’s plan to restructure its industrial and R&D assets.

  • 2012

In 2012, C-EPRI underwent 100% asset transfer twice, firstly from China Electric Power Research Institute (CEPRI) to China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Co., Ltd. (CET) in February, and then became a subsidiary wholly owned by State Grid Smart Grid Research Institute (SGSGRI) in May.

  • 2010

In May 2010, C-EPRI Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd. (C-EPRI) was established by China Electric Power Research Institute. In the same year, C-EPRI released its A5000 series UHVDC converter valve technology and then M2000 HVDC Flexible technology in 2011. C-EPRI commissioned Asia’s first VSC-HVDC scheme, Nanhui Wind Farm Integration (2011), and supplied valves for 3 UHVDC transmission projects in China, namely Jinping-Sunan (2012), Southern Hami-Zhengzhou (2013), Xiluodu-Zhejiang (2014).

  • 2008

In 2008, HVDC Transmission Engineering Research Institute (HVDC Department-CEPRI) was established in order to speed up HVDC R&D and engineering applications and cultivate HVDC transmission project related industries. We delivered with our partner Ningdong-Shandong ±660kV HVDC transmission project, Three Gorges-ShanghaiⅡ±500kV HVDC transmission project, etc.

  • 1996

C-EPRI’s history dated back to 1996, originally named National Engineering Research Center of Transmission/Distribution and Power Saving Technology (TDPST-NERC), established by China Electric Power Research Institute. TDPST-NERC successively developed static var compensator technology, controlled series var compensation technology, and high-power electronic testing technology. These achievements laid a solid foundation for further research and development of the more complex power electronic device - HVDC converter valve, and led to the establishment of HVDC Technology Research Department in 2003 focusing on the preliminary studies of converter valves in China.
